The weight from the Harkla Weighted Blanket helps by regulating the nervous system, through proprioceptive input. It encourages calm. It is like receiving a big hug!
These weighted blankets are ideal for situations that are often stressful, for sensory seekers in the classroom or in the car. They can also be used on the lounge or bed at home.
Deep touch pressure helps the body release serotonin. Serotonin is an important chemical when it comes to feeling calm and assisting with mood stability. Not only does the release of serotonin help a person feel calmer, but serotonin is needed to create melatonin in the body. And, Melatonin is a chemical that your body uses to tell itself that it's time for sleep.
The Harkla Weighted Blanket comes in 4 different weight sizes (each sold separately):
* 2.25kg - recommended for 13 - 18kg children
* 3.25kg - recommended for 18 - 32kg children
* 4.5kg - recommended for 30 to 40kg children
* 6.5kg - recommended for 40 to 70kg children

Please note, the blanket is not the size of a single bed duvet. It is more like the size of the top of a single bed mattress (but not quite as long), designed specifically for a person to easily carry around and to wrap themselves in. That being said, the weight and size of this could also suit a teen or smaller adult.
